Can I let someone else live with me?

If you have a new member in your house, please contact your tenancy worker.

If you allow other people to live permanently at your premises without paying rent without notifying EACH Housing of the change in your household numbers, you are breaching your tenancy agreement with EACH Housing and could be evicted from the property.

What happens if I lose my keys?

If you’ve lost your keys, you will need to phone your housing officer to let them know. Your housing officer will ensure that there is a spare key ready for you to collect from the EACH Housing office at 20 Melbourne Street Ringwood to collect a spare key. You will be charged a fee for the key replacement.

If you lose or damage a remote control, we can assist you with a replacement, however you will be required to pay the cost.

Should you lock yourself out over a weekend, during a public holiday, or at night, you’ll need to arrange a locksmith at your own expense. If this requires a change of the lock, then you will also be required to provide a copy of the new key to EACH Housing.

Does EACH Housing provide contents insurance?

No. EACH Housing does not provide insurance for household contents. This is your responsibility.

What are my responsibilities regarding maintenance?

It is the renter’s responsibility to maintain the garden.

However, if you live in an Owners Corporation such as a block of units, you will be responsible for your front and rear garden. Common garden areas will be generally maintained by the Owners Corporation.

Renters are responsible to ensure their smoke detector batteries are operating and to let EACH Housing know immediately if they are making a beeping sound. It is very important that smoke detectors are not removed.

Renters are responsible for garage remote control devices and their batteries.

Renters are responsible for keeping their properties in a clean and tidy state and do small routine repairs like;

  • Replacing light globes
  • Pest control
  • Looking after your garden
  • General cleaning and rubbish removal

Here are some cleaning tips:

  1. Dust and clean the walls, corners included – your walls get covered over the year with dust and particles that can trigger allergies, asthma, and more. Wipe them down thoroughly to keep dust under control.
  2. Vacuum out the vents to keep the dust down – your ventilation system circulates air all around the house and needs to be free of dirt and debris. Clean the air vents regularly and have the entire system checked yearly.
  3. Clean out closets of unused clothes and toys – reduce, reuse, recycle! Get rid of items you don’t use anymore and donate, recycle, or discard them.
  4. Recycle used bottles and plastics – contribute to the betterment of the environment by keeping your home free of used plastic items. You can also use sorting bins at home to make the task easier.
